It’s been a while since I last checked in, but I wanted to tell you all what this year has meant to me and what I’ve learned.
- Consistency! Consistency! Consistency!
I’ve been absent in many ways and I’ve taken many breaks. There are a million and one reasons why, but they’re really just excuses; I was feeling both disappointed and displeased with my business. I knew I could be doing better, but the longer I stepped away…the easier it was to not return. Staying consistent is a major key in blogging, selling, and advertising.
2. Plan Ahead
My course of action to stay consistent is to keep planning. I will write down topics and ideas days and weeks ahead to manage my posts better.
3. No More Long Shipping
While I’ve received many compliments on how amazing the Famous MissFit merchandise is, I do realize our shipping takes a while. I apologize to any of my customers who may have questioned me or my business because of slow shipping. Truthfully, it takes a lot of money to open a store. There are multiple options you can choose from, like wholesale or dropshipping, but neither of those were an option for me. Currently all of our items are made to order and sent to me (Marian) for the final inspection. I realize this is unconventional, but this was my option.
4. From Now On
Our merchandise will be limited starting February 18, 2017. Initially we planned to launch a new line, but the pressures have been too much and that has been pushed to the back burner. Accessories and basic fashion must haves will be our main focus from now on and this change will speed up shipping.
5. I Will Always Wear Famous MissFit
In my new and improved blog posts, you will see me wearing Famous MissFit items new and old, but I will not limit myself to them. This will give me more creative freedom in my styling. If you ever see an item you want that’s not currently for sale, shoot me an email or leave a comment and I’ll get you the item.
6. Going One-Of-A-Kind
Not only am I a stylist, I am a designer too. I hope to bring more innovative and challenging to the site.
7. More and Better
Be prepared for more pictures and better quality. I’ve made a few investments in my equipment and things are looking up.
8. Share the Hair
At the beginning of the year I started my hair company, Famous Bundles, and haven’t seen much activity. I absolutely love having the hair boutique, but it has taken a lot of my attention. Hopefully with a little more hard work and promotion it will grow.
I’ve received very little support from friends, followers, or my community. I’ve noticed that strangers are more likely to support me, rather than people that know me. Which means I probably have the wrong friends (except a few, you know who you are). I’ve learned that you can’t target your friend group, you need to target strangers because they’ll be the ones to continuously grow your company.
10. Location and Occupation
Being a fashion blogger isn’t something that’s very respected in my area. Honestly the fashion industry is hard to break into…especially if you live in rural America and work a silly underpaid customer service job. I have plans to move in the near future and I hope that transition will make a difference.
Overall, I’ve learned countless lessons that money can’t buy. This year I will do better and focus harder on keeping true to the dignity of Famous MissFit. The vision is the same. The mission is the same. Always remember that you don’t have to conform in order to succeed, learn the way you need to.
